The Beach
Matemwe beach is located a few meters away from your breakfast table and is the longest beach on the island. The white powdery coral sand invites you to relaxing walks, swimming when not low tide, or perhaps a bike ride?
If you just want to relax we offer you soft matress-covered Swahili beds and palm-leaf parasols. The view is the sky, sea and beach. You can also study the villagers’ everyday life at close distance: women who grow sea weed, men who are arranging their boats and fishing gear, children walking to school.
The Pool
The pool (16 x8 meters) beside the hotel building is surrounded by a limestone deck. Lye in the sun, or under the shady parasols. When you close your eyes you hear the oceans´ roar from the reef off the horizon.
The Sea
The beach changes character due to the tides, which alternate between high and low tides in 5-6-hour cycles. The difference between high and low tide is at its highest around the full moon.
